Welcome to the Friends of Sheri Capehart Nature Preserve! We are a group that works to support the preserve and everything that lives in it, and we try to help human visitors have enjoyable and informative experiences while there.
The preserve is part of Arlington Parks & Recreation Department in Arlington, Texas. The Friends of SCNP are a separate nonprofit organization that provides such things as restoring and maintaining habitat, keeping the trail system in good shape, and providing educational events for the public. We welcome volunteers and supporters!
This website has pages that will show you what makes this place special, the best ways to visit, activities you can participate in, and how to keep the preserve healthy.
Please note that the city does not allow motorcycles, bicycles, or horses on the trails. Dogs on leash are welcome, and small bags are provided for owners to clean up after them.
The sidewalk down to the south pond is accessible for those with mobility challenges, but other trails are primitive paths through the woods and prairie. Those trails (marked as blue, yellow, and red) are intentionally “low impact” so that the preserve stays as natural as possible.
One way you can help keep us going is by donating funds through our page at The Communities Foundation of North Texas Giving Day site – any time – not just on Giving Day – see the button below!
